How can I feel more like myself again?

I feel that only a small fraction of health practitioners asks this question: “when is the last time that you felt like yourself?” It takes a subtle and intuitive approach to help a person regain a foundational level of health, so that they can again be that person that they were meant to be.

Key points of this video:

  • If you ask yourself this question, then please know that there is hope for you.

  • Most probably, you can pinpoint a certain watershed moment when you realized that something was amiss - it may have been a traumatic event, a disease, a disruption of some sort - and from then on, things started slowly deteriorating.

  • In Chinese Medicine, we have a concept of “latent pathogen”:

  • Basically, what happens is that in a moment of weakness, typically an immune system weakness, a pathogen (a harmful outside substance) entered your body and your body tucked it away because it wasn’t able to get rid of it at that time. And this pathogen can linger for a long time under the surface, ie without symptoms and can then re-emerge with symptoms, such as fatigue, pain, brain fog, anxiety, etc.

  • To help  the body regain balance, to deal with this pathogen and to recover from years to stress (to keep this pathogen in check), you need to be patient and gentle with yourself.

  • I have found that the most natural approach is the most effective, but will take time: rest - sunshine - exercise - simple, whole foods and, most importantly personal reflection.

  • I believe that each person wants to make a contribution to this life and leave a positive legacy. Sometimes circumstances and/or old beliefs can inhibit us from shining our  light in that way.

  • Find the time to listen to your inner voice. You do not have to know meditation or yoga, you do not have to spend thousands of dollars in treatments or gurus, and you do not have to wait for a full moon or anything like that.

  • Trust that you find the answers inside of you. Put yourself first by being gentle and patient with yourself.
